Fashion Editorial: Amour Noir

Is it OK to have two serious habits? Mags + vintage fashion (it’s okay, isn’t it)? This year I’ve been more inspired, than ever, by both.

Vintage is being celebrated in all its extremes in my fave magazines. From Far East opium dens to 70’s punk and the excesses of the 30’s. It’s heaven (for a magazine addict). And what’s so refreshing is – IT’S OBTAINABLE!

You can mix and match this season’s looks using op shops, second-hand, vintage clothing, local markets, your grandma’s wardrobe and some E’s (etsy + ebay).

Take this shoot from Vogue Deutsch’s most recent issue (Sept 2016). “Amour Noir”. It’s layered with black on black, masculine and feminine, velvet and lace. And one of my all-time favourite accessories – a diamante fascinator (I’ve included a pic of myself in my own diamante fascinator – no need to point out which pic…when you’re on the same page as model Odette Pavlova. What was I thinking!).

I think everyone looks fabulous in vintage fascinators. And I’m not entirely sure why? Maybe because they’re like fishnet stockings and help project an allure of pure passion?! Other ideas? Let me know…

But for now, be fascinated by this stunning shoot.
